the colours of change...
Africa on Canvas buys paintings at fair market value directly from artists in Tanzania & donates all net proceeds from the resale to The Uganda Partnership Association, a Calgary organization working with widows in Uganda to develop projects that empower women & children to lead the way in changing their communities.
Tanzania is a place of unique beauty and cultural diversity, and while my visit there was relatively short the experience carved a mark on my spirit.
Starting Africa on Canvas when I returned home was really my way of staying connected. The goal of the project was to generate interest in African art and culture in a way that raised social consciousness and allowed us to make a sustainable contribution back to Tanzanian society. What makes this project unique is it's ability to tie together two themes. By directly supporting artists in Dar es Salaam we are in-turn enabling students to realize their dreams of education.
The artwork on this site is purchased directly from the artists and all the net proceeds raised from the sale of artwork are donated in support of the Enyorrata E Ngia Girls Secondary School in Northern Tanzania. The money assists students in paying fees for school supplies and lodging, contributes to paying teacher’s salaries and provides for various school construction projects. So, in essence the colors you see splashed across the pages of this site are the colors of change.
With the help of my amazing family and friends in both Africa and Canada, I welcome you to Africa on Canvas.
