the colours of change...
Africa on Canvas buys paintings at fair market value directly from artists in Tanzania & donates all net proceeds from the resale to The Uganda Partnership Association, a Calgary organization working with widows in Uganda to develop projects that empower women & children to lead the way in changing their communities.

It stopped raining just long enough to sneak out and take pictures in the sun! These two paintings are done by Namanya Godwin. A talented artist who draws much of his inpiration from the colourful women of Uganda.
He studied art & design at the Buganda Royal Institute of Business & Techinical Studies in Kampala, majoring in painting & fabric decoration. He began painting for a living in mid 2009 taking inspiration from artists like Enock Mukiibi, Damba Ismeal, Juukohood & other abstract painters because they played around with figures and textures. It can be difficult to make a living as an artist in Uganda, but working with Africa on Canvas will increase international exposure and help them to succeed in their profession.
